Why does Alexa need to scan my site before its metrics are certified?

In order to get a complete and accurate view of the traffic to your site the certify code needs to be on all of the pages of your site. We will scan your site to make sure the certify code is on all of the pages. Confirming the existence of the code helps us ensure the accuracy of the directly measured data for your site and allows us to display that data and the Certified badge on your Site Overview page.

Note: If the certify code is not on a page, that page will not be counted in your directly measured data.

If we find that the certify code is missing from a large amount of your pages in the future, we will remove the directly measured data and Certified badge from your site’s Site Overview page. You can restore that information anytime by adding the certify code back to all of your pages.
